Could it be guilt? Nah!
I did a walk about in the garden today. I realize the lawn needs mowed, there's a few weeds about and a swack of deadheading to be done, but it didn't get done today. It's July....it's hot and I've worked hard all spring. So I grabbed another cuppa tea, sat down and planned what I'm going to change in the fall. I'll mow the lawn tomorrow.

JUST SAY NO.....MELANIE!
Remember it is July and you are not ready(no where near ready) to plant 35-45 boxwoods. Buy them when you are ready. That might be in the fall or maybe next spring. Patience dear girl, patience.

Summer Garden
This is a view I don't normally take a picture of. It bugs me because it is the last part of the house that doesn't have new siding. We were hoping to do it this summer but the to do list is just too long! Hopefully next spring. We really want new french doors because the seals are broken in some of the panes and they can't be replaced. I want just plain glass ones without the panes. We have new windows for the bathrooms but we can't install them until we do the siding. I can't wait..it is going to look great!
Sad Story
I heard a sad story on the news last night. There is a 72 year old man in Vancouver,B.C. who has for 30-40 years tended a couple dozen bonsai he started from seed. He woke up in the morning and someone stole them all out of his garden. No wonder old people are grumpy!!! That would be enough to make the happiest person miserable!

Poor Poor Petunias
I do very few containers in the summer. One reason is because I am cheap and the other is the constant watering. I have trees, hydrangeas, hostas, helebores and skimmia in containers and they keep me busy enough. I do love the cheerfulness of annuals but as I checked today...my one window box on the shed.....those poor, poor, petunias. Fried. Crispy. Brown petunias. I swore I had watered them yesterday. Not. Ohh the guilt!

Just put it down and walk away
My camera that is. I love my new camera but my garden is suffering because of it. I looked at my garden yesterday and just couldn't stand the mess any longer.
I managed to get quite a bit done. I mowed and edged the lawn and clipped my boxwood hedge. A job that kills my back! Did some deadheading though I have more to do today. Another job I have to do is weed in between the paving stones. I really must buy some thyme to plant to keep the weeds from wanting to live there.
Ahh, much better.

Up close and personal
Today I felt like getting close to my plants. It was too hot to garden so I watered the containers and started to snap some pictures. I have been pretty lazy as far as gardening goes lately and it is starting to show. Wide shots were out of the question!

Finally! A nice sunny morning!
We have had some crazy July weather. It hasn't been our nicest summer. Mind you that gardens and lawn have liked the rain. Not necessarily the roses or plants that love the heat. I like a happy medium. We have had below average temps and then in a few days the weather man says it is going to be 36C. Too bloody hot for me! The poor plants are going to fry because they won't be used to it!

Rainy Day blog reading
I came home early from work today because I was absolutely soaked from the rain. So I thought I would make a cuppa tea and read some other peoples garden blogs. I have discovered that most bloggers gardens I come across are really into perennial and annuals. I like flowers as much as next gardener but I love trees and shrubs the best. I would love to have a huge piece of property and plant a forest of cool trees and conifers. I like the structure, the permanence of trees and shrubs. They make my garden cozy!

Plant moving frenzy
Every once in awhile I start hating certain areas in my garden. Lately I have been doing my evening walk abouts dissatisfyed with some of my gardens. I just couldn't stand it any longer! So out I went after dinner and started ripping my gardens apart. One thing always leads to another and before I know it half my gardens are dug up, it starts getting dark and I'm out there until all hours trying to put in back together. I managed to get everything back in the ground and watered!!! Ahh...much better. I'll sleep good tonight.
