I love Japanese Maples for small trees. What zone are you? Sometimes you have to make do with large shrubs like cotinus.
These hand belong to my two nephews and niece. Hands only stay small for such a short time!
There are so many nice small trees to choose from! Japanese maples come in green, yellow and orange leaves too. Another nice maple is acer circinatum or acer griseum. Styrax japonicus is also a lovely tree. I love Cornus Kousa 0r Acer japonicum. The list is endless. I have all these trees and highly recommend them. They all have lovely fall color(a must for my garden)
