And the Winner is....

Pumpkin growing is a serious addiction. I dropped by the nursery the other day to see who was going to be crowned Pumpkin King 2006. In Victoria, there was a pumpkin weighing in at 1026 lbs. That's alot of pie.

I've always wanted to grow one of those big pumpkins! Some day I'm going to do just that.

Steroids! :)

These things and the people who grow them have always amazed me, and especially when they are brought in on a flat bed truck!!

We belonged to an organic gardening club in Maine that had a pumpkin contest. With less than 3 months of gardening they used a lot of trucks. One was a wick that went into a hole in the stem from a cannister of milk.. We had wonderful ones planted behind the barn, but no prize winners. Thanks for the memory.

The biggest pumpkin this year was one that weighed 1502 pounds, grown by a Rhode Island farmer, Ron Wallace. Can you imagine a pumpkin half again as big as the one you photographed. Now that's a serious pumpkin!
