Blogger comments
I've decided that my favorite blogs are the ones where people answer their comments. Maybe they don't read their comments. I love them and totally encouraged people to leave questions or comments anytime.

Here comes the rain again
It's raining again. Fall has officially arrived. I can't remember the last time it rained. Maybe once in the last month or so. It's not very often I'm still dragging the hose around to water in September.
Tomorrow a large storm is coming are way. I can't wait. I love a good storm with lots of high wind. I think I'll make roast beef and mashed potatoes, light the fireplace and get nice and cosy. I love the fall.

Best Ever Edgers
I love perfect edged garden beds. Nothing make a garden look nicer. I prefer not to use power tools in my garden if I can help it. I use a reel mower for the lawn and these edgers for the beds. These two tools do a better job than their gas counterparts and are much kinder to the enviroment and your neighbors. The one downside would be that you have to mow more often. (Unless you want to rake, which I don't). I have a small grass area so it just make sense to go this route. If I had a large lawn I would probably use a gas reel mower. As for the garden edges, I cut them with a half moon edger in the spring if needed and then use my edgers about every three to four days.
Just for Me
This is a lovely present my friends Laurel and Melanie bought me to celebrate my job offer with Gardens West Magazine. I LOVE it!!!!
A New Discovery
I discovered this evening that I'm afraid of heights. I decided this while I climbed up on my roof to take some pictures of the garden. This is a view that you won't get too often I'm afraid. It does give a good idea of what the garden looks like as a whole though.

Neglect or Nurture?
This evening, the boys and I went out for a bike ride to get some excerise after dinner. My husband and I love looking at people houses and gardens on our evening treks. There is so much new development going on that their is lots to look at and admire.
As we were zipping along, one house in peticular stopped me dead in my tracks. This new garden was very tidy and full of annuals everywhere. Now this is not the type of garden that has ever really caught my eye but what did was how beautiful the annuals were. The most incredible begonias you've ever seen! The window boxes were so healthy looking they looked fake. That is what stopped me so suddenly. At first I thought they were! It is the middle of September and most annuals that I have or grudgingly take care of are pretty close to being done! After a moment of staring I thought....you know....I'm a neglector type of gardener. This gardener obviously has lovingly nurtured these flower daily for the entire season. Is it because they have a small little garden and have the time to nurture. Maybe they are retired or maybe they have no children. I can't help but admire people who garden like this. It puts me to shame. My poor, poor neglected garden.

Garden Snobs....How boring!
It seems no matter what kind of hobby you get into, you will eventually encounter some form of snobbery. Gardening is a individual hobby unless you are lucky enough to share it with a spouse. (Preferrably your own). I think anyone who plants anything and enjoys it is a gardener. Maybe not a all out obsessive gardener like myself, but hey some people really do have a life.
There are always going to be people out their that judge others no matter what hobby you do. Horses were really bad. Extreme snobbery there! I'm sure now I want to get into photography I'll find it there. So what. It is bound to happen and if you worry about what others think you will never take the chance to learn something new that you might end up being good at. So I'm prepared to take millions of terrible pictures and learn from my mistakes because it is something that I enjoy doing. Another thing.....I have always felt that people who judge others are insecure in themselves.
So with that little rant of my chest.....go out and enjoy your garden. After all, it's all about you.

Bad blogger!
I have been a bad lazy blogger lately. I haven't even done a garden walk about in days. I've mowed the lawn but didn't really look around. As for taking pictures I haven't been out at all. After work tomorrow I really have to get out in the yard and find something to take a snap or two of.

Only Oprah!
Only Oprah can cover a story and a reduce me to tears. She gets me everytime! Her coverage on the hurricane was so sad, I had to go for a long walk and ponder it for awhile. I have to turn the news off for awhile because it is just too depressing and heartwrenching.
